Our Pastor

Pastor Voss comes from a family of pastors.  He grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin and attended the Lutheran elementary school where his father was pastor.  He then received his high school education at Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, WI.

Pastor Voss has received the same training that all pastors of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) receive. After 4 years at Northwestern College in Watertown, Wisconsin he received a Bachelor of Arts degree.  He then enrolled at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary (WLS) in 1978. That school, located in Mequon, Wisconsin, is the theological seminary of WELS.

In between his first two years at WLS, Pastor Voss was asked to spend a school year teaching classes at Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, WI. His vicar year was spent at Jerusalem Ev. Lutheran Church in Morton Grove, Illinois. There he learned, under an experienced pastor and among members of that WELS congregation, more about the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of a pastor. He returned to the WLS campus for his final year of study and graduated in 1983 with a Master of Divinity degree.

Upon his graduation, Pastor Voss was assigned to serve Faith Ev. Lutheran Church in River Falls, Wisconsin. He was pastor of the congregation from July 1983 to February 1987, when he accepted the divine call to serve Memorial Ev. Lutheran Church in Williamston.

Pastor Voss has served as a circuit pastor and as Second Vice President and First Vice President of the Michigan District.

Pastor and his wife Laurie have been married for 39 years. They have four married sons and 10 grandchildren.  He enjoys being with family, and since moving to Michigan the Voss family has enjoyed camping vacations every summer in our beautiful state. He is also an avid sports fan and loves to read.
